Servants Center will be forever grateful to our founder, Don Tack.

Don was an educator and pastor for 30 years who not only felt the call to serve the poor and homeless, he acted on it.

Don believed from the outset, and Servants Center believes today, that the Bible calls us to serve others, including the poor and those without a home. He communicated this message from the pulpit, in the classroom, and by his writings.  For Don, it became more than an academic exercise. He walked the streets and met people where they were. Together with his wife, Phyllis, a mental health nurse, Don pursued this passion for many years. His efforts focussed on the homeless population, specifically people suffering from mental illness. Out of this calling and focus, Servants Center was founded as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization in 1993 .

Servants Center has not only remained true to its roots of serving people who are homeless, but has expanded our services to include guardians and representative payees.  These are essential services to help people get off the streets and into stable housing. At any one time, Servants Center is a guardian and/or representative payee for 275+ people, and has served thousands of people over our history.

Don passed away in 2023, but his life’s mission continues to flourish in the work Servants Center is doing today. We remain grateful for the positive impact Don had on individuals, on our communities, and on Servants Center.
